Here at COW we have been super busy trying to jazz up our website, blogs, facebooks, instagrams, in stores and everything else visual. To do this we grabbed some babes, a load of clothes, shoes and accessories and went to an area in Salford in the freezing cold to take some photos of stuff we like!! I believe that's what they call in the fashion industry.. a "campaign".
Anyway here we have our selection of images you can expect to see knocking around online and maybe in stores.
In line with this mega competition we are going to be talking to some of the bands who are playing over the 3 days of fun spread across Bristol, Nottingham and Manchester. We want to find out who they are excited about watching at Dot To Dot, where we can see them after the Festival and obvs what they will be wearing!
So to kick off all the excitement we spoke to the lads from the BEST FRIENDS. You may or may not of heard of this band but they are working to hard to make sure their catchy surf/ pop/ rock/ garage style tunes never leave your head. And with track titles like 'If You Think Too Much Your Brain Will Fall Out', 'Surf Bitches' and 'Throwing Up' you can see straight away they aren't taking it too seriously but enjoying every minute and with this attitude they are becoming quite appealing to all music lovers.
HIYA JACK, LEWIS, EDAND TOM aka BEST FRIENDS!
HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN GOING NOW?
Jack - "About two years . I think our first gig was around this time last year."
WHAT ARE YOU WORKING ON AT THE MINUTE?
Jack - "We're recording a new E.P hopefully to release before we start playing the festivals this summer."
WHAT'S THE BEST GIG YOU'VE EVER DONE?
Jack - "Loads but probably in the house we lived in last year. We used to put on house shows. They were always the most messy but the most fun and the living room made a perfect venue. We did a WWF themed fancy dress show once which was siiiiiiiick!"
HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT PLAYING DOT TO DOT?
Ed - "It should be rad!"
WHAT OTHER BANDS ARE YOU LOOKING FORWARD TO WATCHING THERE?
Ed - "Bo Ningen are one of the most insane bands I've ever seen so I'll try and see them at some point that weekend. I'm also looking forward to watching a load of bands I've never seen/heard before, should be a good weekend!"
Lewis - "I'm gonna catch Wolf Alice, we played their single launch recently and they were really good, they're gonna be big."
WHAT'S PLANNED FOR THE FUTURE & WHERE CAN WE SEE YOU AGAIN AFTER THE FESTIVAL?
Lewis - "I'll be looking for a job, are you hiring?"
WHAT IS YOUR FESTIVAL MUST HAVE?
Ed - "A pair of boots"
Lewis - "Hats. Getting sunstroke can make you look like a pussy. Avoid meshbacks too because the sun can still get in and fry your brain."
WHAT IS THE BEST THING YOU'VE EVER FOUND FROM A VINTAGE STORE?
Ed - "Festival boots!"
Lewis - "I bought a vest with Snoop on the other day. That's pretty good."
Thanks to Best Friends for answering some questions for us. We look forward to seeing them at Dot To Dot Festival and to listen to more from them follow this link!
We are getting a lot of interest from photographers and stylists loaning our vintage clothes for their own Photoshoots and this time the lovely photographer Jade Neale contacted us for a project. We saw her work and knew we instantly wanted to get involved. Her work has a subtle and laid back tone with a blurry and almost every day feel to her images. We love how she uses her models in very 'normal' situations but with a focus on the fashion and styling, some having an almost comical twist.
Here are the images using COW Vintage pieces but we recommend you check out more of her work at the website Jade Neale here. Keep your eye out for this talent and don't forget you saw it here first!!
With the sun out, the line ups being confirmed and people diving into their savings for tickets we can safely say it is officially Festival season!
We have been swooning over the sunny, palm trees and sun kissed babes from Coachella last week but since we couldn't be there and realistically have to look towards festivals a bit closer to home we have a whole list that we want to attend.
This year COW and Dot to Dot have joined forces to make sure no one misses out and we have TWOPAIRS of tickets to giveaway!!!
That means you and a friend could go and catch up with your favourite bands, singers and DJ's in Nottingham and Manchester! For the chance to win this all you need to do is go to our Facebook Page, like the images we have uploaded (shown below) and share it with all of your friends. The most shares will win a pair of tickets to go to Dot to Dot Festival at either Nottingham or Manchester!!
Whoever can spread the news and photo the most WINS. Easy!!
We will announce the winners on WEDNESDAY 15TH MAY!
This coming Saturday 20th April is Record Store Day! This is a celebration of all things vinyl and is quite a big deal for the small amount of record stores that are still open! Here at COW we are massive supporters of independent record stores who have stayed open and continue to supply the fans and collectors of records.
If you are out shopping on Saturday in any of these areas we highly advise you go and check out these participating stores which all have their own events throughout the whole day.
So even though we are putting on a spectacular event with an evening full of discounts, free drinks, great music and fun times, we thought this just isn't enough.
Evolving from this thought we bring to you our Limited Edition 1980's style Graphic Print T-Shirt up for grabs on the night of the Club Tropicana Party!! As we may have mentioned before every store has a creative team of staff that love to use COW to really show off those talents. One of those members of staff is the ever talented Allan Buxton who we have definitely mentioned before for his COW Vintage short film which was styled, recorded and edited by himself. Check that our here!
You may also be familiar with his work in stores as he designs and prints t-shirts for his own company Howl At The Sun and we stock those t-shirts in all of our COW stores. This time we asked Allan to come up with a simple and modern version of a 1980's print just for our Club Tropicana event.
This is the final printed garment and with only 50 printed between 4 stores they are genuinely limited!

Sheffield is a city that exudes talent but only a few go on to bigger and better things.. Today COW get to catch up with the newest and loudest band spreading themselves around the world who are crudely and comically known as Wet Nuns.
This band have been knocking around this town and the surrounding areas or a while now but are finally getting the recognition they deserve from their sweaty live gigs to their gothy, gross music videos shot on none to hardly any budget. This gaining them a whole new bunch of followers as well as their die hard fans travelling to watch them shock and stun other cities and countries. With an EP release, their own festival under the belt and a trip to Austin, Texas to play at SXSW Festival, they are definitely paving a way into your nearest ear so be sure to keep up.
Impressive Line Up.
We caught up with one of the band members, bearded drum basher Alexis, and asked a couple of questions on the aftermath of their highly successful weekend festival Detestival that they put on in various venues in Sheffield over the weekend. Here's what he had to say..
HOW LONG HAVE WET NUNS BEEN AROUND FOR NOW?
"Wet Nuns have been going for about 4 years now, but it's only taken off in the last couple of years. Since then we've become really busy and reached uncharted heights of silliness. It's really weird starting to get noticed and seeing people sing lyrics at us in places like Hastings or Dundee."
WHAT'S THE BEST GIG YOU'VE PLAYED SO FAR?
"We've played many great gigs, probably too many to mention.. Reading Festival was a personal highlight for me. The footage is up on youtube I think. It just seemed like the stupidest gig ever and we weren't sure what we were doing there. Our Sheffield gigs keep getting better, and the Detestival show last weekend is definitely one of the best."
WHAT MADE YOU WANT TO RUN YOUR OWN FESTIVAL?
"The concept for Detestival came about one unbearably drunken night at Bestival. We basically decided that we could put on the best lineup ever, of bands that we love. We then got other people to organise it for us, and took all the credit."
ARE YOU HAPPY WITH HOW IT WENT AND THE BANDS YOU CHOSE FOR IT?
"We are so happy with how the weekend went. It surpassed all our expectations. All of the bands played better than we've ever seen them. At one point I found myself thinking 'Wow, I've loved every band that played this weekend' and then remembered that we'd chosen each act ourselves. It's the ultimate selfish act. Put on your own festival and your always going to enjoy it.."
WHAT ARE WET NUNS PLANNING FOR THE FUTURE?
"We're having a little break while Rob finishes Uni. Then after he's failed, we've got the festival season to conquer and an album to finish. We're planning some further Detestival events as well. The last one went far too well to wait another year for.."
To listen to more of or find out what we're talking about go to WET NUNS SOUNDCLOUD or follow them on TWITTER so you don't miss a thing.
We are often approached by stylists to borrow our products who are working on fashion editorials for printed and online magazines. Recently we were approached by the Photographer David Swailes who wanted to use a selection of Cow Vintage products to create a simple, realistic portrait story.
With Stylist Rebecca Warriner and models Freya Walker and Caroline McArdle they created a very slick but editorial style story. Here are a few of those images but full story can be seen at David Swailes website. The images are great and our Cow product has never looked so modern and fresh!
