The Championships - Wimbledon

Get your strawberrys, Pimms and Robinson dilute out. It's Wimbledon time!

The Sports Crew are out in full swing, literally and we are not going to miss out on some nail biting back and forth.. as well as those wonderful faces of pure effort, success and disappointment.
All in all the whole game is a roller coaster of emotion and we want to get involved... Mostly by sitting down and eating cucumber sandwiches.

The sport actually has quite an interesting relationship with Fashion, with big names such as Fred Perry being the last British male to win the Championships and the label close to our hearts, Ralph Lauren sponsors the Championships and provides uniforms for the ball boys and girls.

Here are our Wimbledon outfits all available at WWW.WEARECOW.COM

Glastonbury 1970 - Present

When we think of Glastonbury now you might automatically think of mud, bands, those toilets, the fashion crowd and unfortunately Jo Whiley. Glastonbury is a massive part of many peoples lives and by how hard it is to get a ticket nowadays it is only becoming more popular!

We are going to look at the history of Glastonbury in pictures and see why it holds a piece of your heart once you have been despite the bad weather, bad hygiene and effort it takes to get hold of tickets.

GORGEOUS UNTOUCHED GLASTONBURY RIDGE 1970

THE EVER GROWING MAP OF GLASTONBURY FESTIVAL 1990

No matter what the weather or what bands you might get to see it is clear that the Glastonbury experience also involves Fashion. There is no getting away with it really. Surrounded by the ultimate fashion tribe with the likes of Kate Moss, Pixie Geldof, Florence Welsh, Daisy Lowe, Alexa Chung and pretty much everyone we (COW) may look to for outfit inspiration, you have to be festival ready from head to toe!

The clothes are the only things that don't change that much through the years, maybe we actually wear more clothes nowadays than the free, fun loving hippies of the 1970's.

Starting from the mud up.. a hefty boot or wellington is essential. Keeping covered with summer pieces like floral dresses, playsuits, denim shorts, loose vests and sweatshirts. On top of those the ultimate weather protectors such as hoodies, leather jackets, ponchos and army jackets. Most likely to be in camouflage print, fringing or maybe a full on print so your friends don't lose you! If you have been to pretty much any festival before you know how important these layers are for when the British Summer weather does change 5 times throughout the day.

Or take a leaf out of Lily Allen's book and jazz it up with some sequins and embellishment! And a wig.. if you want.

We are here to help you prepare for such turmoil. We know the festival begins round about now but if you are stepping out into the mud late then make sure you run into COW for your last minute needs!

Pop into your nearest stores now before it's too late!! Or visit WWW.WEARECOW.COM to pick up your festival outfits.

Download Festival 2013!

This weekend hosts one of the heaviest Festivals of the year right in our back garden! Pretty much all of the East Midlands as well as visitors from all over the Country come together for one thing.. to rock. Hard.

Download Festival 2013 is here and with a line up including the likes of Slipknot, Iron Maiden, Rammstein, Queens Of The Stone Age, Motorhead, Alice in Chains and Bullet For My Valentine we are pretty sure to expect sweat, booze, blood and mud covered outfits by the end. This is not the kind of festival you're going to dress up for so we have made a selection from our website of our Download Festival pieces that we don't mind having to wash, leave or throw away after.

Click links to shop: Left to Right:

We recommend your bag includes at least 2 band t-shirts, a few pairs of pants and some wet wipes. Have fun though and make sure you tag us if you're wearing anything from COW!

Get The Look - Chelsea Leyland

Fashion Party goer, Celebrity DJ and all round 'IT' girl Chelsea Leyland is our Get The Look inspiration this week. Surrounded by our other favourite celebs and best friends with Alice Dellal you can't really go wrong at acquiring a cool style. We love how Chelsea's look is predominantly effortless cool with loose fitting vintage tees, hot pants and leather jackets but when she attends premiers and parties she also looks comfortable in a girly dress or trouser suit. So she can pretty much pull anything off..

Here are some of our favourite pieces from the website that we think would easily fit into Chelsea Leyland's wardrobe from COW Vintage.

Tom J Newell Exhibition

If you are ever around Sheffield, London, Nottingham, Manchester, Leicester and many other areas around the UK and Ireland you may have bumped into some of Tom J Newell's artwork at some point.

He does get around and to say he began his Illustration career by drawing up gig posters for his old band and finished his first Comic from his bedroom. We think he is doing pretty well with a growing fan base and work produced for magazines such as Dazed and Confused and Juke, as well as continuously completing commissions for record covers, posters, prints, t-shirts, books, tattoo designs and just about everything else you need drawing up.
This Thursday 6th June Tom J Newell will be showing a selection of his work for an Exhibition at The Old Sweet Shop. Filling both rooms with a collection of previous work along with a group of brand new original drawings from the on-going project to illustrate the '72 Spirits of Solomon'. Tom has done a new print with the help of  Dan 'Phlegm' at Dan's home print studio available to buy at the event. With sponsorship from Kraken Rum and an after party at The Broadfield pub with Tom himself DJ'ing as well as his other favourites it should be a great evening.

We will make sure COW Sheffield are going down to support this and maybe pick up some original drawings for ourselves! Make sure you don't miss out..

Meet The Team! Roxanne Hudson

At COW we don't ask our staff to wear certain things, there is no uniform and people can pretty much do as they please where style is concerned. Thankfully we have a good bunch of people who love COW Vintage because they can take pieces from different eras to create their own style.
Today we talk to Roxy, our almost brand new Supervisor at our Nottingham store.. She shows us though her wardrobe and let's us know what she couldn't live without!

WHO ARE YOU AND WHAT DO YOU DO?

Roxanne Hudson - Supervisor at Cow Nottingham

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR STYLE?

That's a hard one because my style and taste changes from day to day depending on my mood but I guess one word that will always fit would be grunge. I love grunging up girly things.

WHERE DO YOU FIND MOST OF YOUR CLOTHES?

I always find the best stuff in those shops you see around town that sell (and you will laugh) what I call 'stripper clothes'. I always get great stuff like mesh and netted tops at the cheapest pirices. Other than that H&M, COW and other vintage shops mostly.

WHERE DO YOU LOOK FOR INSPIRATION?

My inspiration comes from street style. I love it when I spot people in the street wearing something I love. My biggest idol inspiration is a blogger named Luanna Perez.

YOU HAVE GAINED A LOT OF FOLLOWERS ON SOCIAL MEDIA NETWORKS.. WHY DO YOU THINK PEOPLE ARE SO INTERESTED IN YOUR OUTFITS?

I'm not actually sure, I used to feel silly posting my outfits but people on instagram are so complimentary. I think it's just I wear what I like and don't really follow trends, it makes it more fun seeing something different maybe? I'm really not sure though.

WHAT'S YOUR FAVOURITE THING TO DO ON YOUR DAYS OFF?

Usually al my days off involve me travelling to different cities either getting tattooed or going to my favourite gigs, like on the 5th June I am going to London to see my ultimate favourite band City and Colour. I am super excited about that!

WHAT DO YOU THINK WE SHOULD BE LOOKING FOR THIS SUMMER TO UPDATE OUR WARDROBES?

Dungarees!! Who doesn't love dungarees?

CHOOSE 3 THINGS YOU CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT FROM YOUR WARDROBE?

Dungarees, my Aggy Strap Dr Martens boots and it isn't really my wardrobe but a lipstick. I always carry at least 3 colours with me, it can completely change your outfit.

AND FINALLY... WHAT IS IT YOU LIKE ABOUT COW?

Can EVERYTHING be my answer? Great place to work, beautiful one off pieces to get your hands on and all at such good prices too!

Wow, Thanks for that Rox!!
