Work Experience at COW!

There is always so much to do in our stores that we offer work experience placements for guys and gals for up to one week at a time. In this time we can offer our new team member the chance to get some real hands on experience in a busy, fashion led vintage retail store as well as work with our Rework teams, dabble in visual merchandising and help us come up with fresh new ideas and share with the world using our social media networks.

Recently in our Sheffield store we had the lovely Georgina working with us and we wanted to find out what made her come to COW and what she has learnt in her time here.

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE COW TO DO YOUR WORK EXPERIENCE?

I love COW products and wanted not only some retail experience but also something to do over the Summer. I have been here previously for a week last year and I really enjoyed that experience so I thought I would come back.

WHAT TASKS HAVE YOU DONE SO FAR?

Plenty of steaming, choosing items and photographing looks for instagram, store tasks like tagging/ hanging and replenishment. I also worked with Alison doing the Rework, researching visual merchandising displays for A/W and helping Helen by looking for events going on around the North and Midlands for the blog. And hoovering!

WHAT HAVE YOU ENJOYED THE MOST  IN YOUR TIME?

The staff that work here are all really good and helpful. Being with them has helped to teach me about what working in stores is like. Being surrounded by all the clothes in here is good too.

HAVE YOU LEARNT MORE ABOUT FASHION/ RETAIL/ VINTAGE/ TRENDS?

Yes, I have learnt a lot about customer service, more about Fashion and how to build outfits properly. It also showed me how the clothes get onto the shop floor and the process involved. I have learnt a lot about the up-coming Autumn/Winter trends which I am really looking forward to now.

WOULD YOU RECOMMEND WORK EXPERIENCE HERE TO A FRIEND?

Yes, definitely. I have learnt so much and really enjoyed it at the same time. I've gained some valuable experience and there wasn't a point when I was bored or fed up.

WHAT ARE YOUR FAVOURITE ITEMS IN STORE?

I really like the dungarees and the twin sets, especially the floral ones. They are easy to wear and can be worn together or with other clothes too and good for most occasions.
