Tess Yopp is not only one super snazzy dresser but also one of our favourite Stylists,  working for magazines including i-D online, Vrag, I Love Fake and Vogue Japan. ISABELLA BLOW: FASHION GALORE!

We've had this exhibition marked in our diaries for so long now and we are so excited to go and see it as Isabella Blow was such a massive character and inspiration who came to life though her work and style. 

If you don't know about Isabella Blow she pretty much kick started careers for fashion designers, models and photographers throughout the 1980's as well as becoming one of the hardest working editors for many publications. She discovered and nurtured talents such as Alexander McQueen, Phillip Treacy, Sophie Dahl, Stella Tenant and well known for her artist collaborations with Steven Meisel and David LaChappelle. 

Isabella Blow is recognised by her outstanding and outlandish sense of style. She is an icon in the fashion world and earned that title by working hard in her home town of London before moving to New York in 1979 and working alongside Anna Wintour and Andre Leon Tally for US Vogue. There was such a huge movement going on in Fashion and Art at this time and Isabella started moving in circles with the likes of Andy Warhol and Jean-Michel Basquiat putting her in the middle of the art world, subsequently incorporating this influence into her style. In 1986 Isabella moved back to London to go on to work for Tatler and then onto British Vogue. In 1997 she became Fashion Director for Sunday Times Style and then back to Tatler as the Fashion Director. 

She is known as the muse for Alexander McQueen and Phillip Treacy and many more but even though it may have looked like she was living the dream Isabella suffered silently with depression for years and later in life was diagnosed with bipola disorder and then ovarian  cancer. She was also a subject to the ugly side of the fashion industry when after discovering so much talent and working hard to further other peoples careers she was left behind. 

The story behind her wearing such extravigant headwear was "to keep everyone away from me.. They say Oh, can I kiss you? I say, No thank you very much. That's why I've worn the hat. Goodbye. I don't want to be kissed by all and sundry. I want to be kissed by the people I love."
After many suicide attempts towards the end of her life Isabella sadly died in 2007 at a weekend house party at Hilles surrounded by the people who she had worked with and loved over the years. 

This exhibition is a celebration of her work, style and life lived through clothes. Curated by people who knew her best and has inspired over many years. We recommend anyone who enjoys fashion and has a soft spot for unique style that inspires a generation and will never be imitated.

WEEKS OF FASHION

From New York, London, Milan and Paris the hottest fashion pack have been travelling round the world following the next big thing! The shows that ran over the last 4 weeks have been full of the newest designers and trends that will have everyone talking till next season. It's just turned Autumn to us lot but some people live to pre-order straight from the catwalks and probably have cramp from tweeting #FW so much!

Here we have a quick recap of the shows and have pulled out the Summer trends we can expect to see in stores, billboards and glossy mags for the next season. We will keep going back to these too and also taking a look at what people were wearing to the shows. 

THE TRENDS:

- SCRAPBOOKING
There were a few shows that included some looks with a real home made feel. Looks that reminded us of that perfect feeling when you finish a full sketchbook and you have fabric samples hanging out, threads and scrap paper stuck to it.
We all love a good clashing print but these looks were like clashing prints, textures, colours and text all thrown together with some pva glue, Art Attack style and we love it!!

- SHINY WHITES
It's Summer so there for white is a colour of choice and you won't get away without seeing some fresh white looks in the shows. This season those white pieces were brought to life with interesting fabrics that were layered, structured, sheer, silky and technical and the tone definitely held it's own throughout all shows.

- SHRINK TO FIT
Denim is a great fabric for the Summer and this year the designers have decided to dress it all up all prim and proper like. There is no sign of a shredded pair of jeans, salvage or decoration this season (apart from Ashish), just clean lines and fitted denim. Denim is probably the best fabric ever so we are going to be pulling all of ours out again.

- SICKLY SWEET 
Sorry folks but it looks like the pastel colour palette is also going to be around for the next season. The amount of pastel, candyfloss looks that were included in numerous collections proved that it is stuck here like bubblegum.

PLAY LOUD: FKA Twigs

She's caught our eye in the press with her super 90's hair do, decorative earrings and big red lips but after listening to more from FKA Twigs we decided she's not just a pretty face and works that look in with her angelic voice softly drizzled over a mix of electronic and R&B.

The 25 year old originally from Gloucestershire is residing in London but says "she likes to keep herself to herself". This might be how she can pull off an almost sinister sounding song backed up by noises of ticking clocks with bashing cymbals but also make it sound quite pop.
The up-coming star was recently shot for the cover of the Youthful Issue of i-D Magazine and she looks very comfortable as she is not even styled too heavily but just oozes cool!

We will definitely be keeping our eyes and ears out for what she's up to and await an album release! For now though we'll just sit back and chill out to a few of our favourites so far.

THE NEW KING: King Krule Rules!

Not George, we're talking about the other young, cute little redhead that will be king.. uber cool King Krule!!

Archy Marshall aka King Krule is on everyones lips and in everyones ears at the moment as he releases the debut album '6 Feet Beneath The Moon'. This London lad has the face of an adorable innocent teenager but the musical knowledge and talent of a not so innocent teenager. Being surrounded by music since a young age and with a strong love for 1950's rockabilly rhythm and lifestyle he is coming out with some of the most pleasant and catchy songs we've heard for a while now. We love how his voice doesn't really match his person and we will definitely be watching out for more from him.
His recent collaboration with Mount Kimbie is also a huge success and (we expect) this is just the beginning of many more collaborations to come.  

There is a European tour starting in October and will be passing through The Harley in Sheffield on Thursday 3rd October and The Ruby Lounge in Manchester on Saturday 5th October so try and get down to see, we will definitely be attending!
